The incumbent is responsible for the technical support activities of the Inpatient Pharmacy. Authority and responsibility of this position include: Planning, organizing, directing and reviewing the work of Pharmacy technicians, students, and volunteers, pharmacy support assistants working in the Inpatient Pharmacy area under the supervision of the Inpatient Supervisor. The supervisory technician is responsible for scheduling and assigning all tasks necessary to accomplish the technical support functions of this unit. The supervisory technician is accountable for the quality, quantity and efficiency of the work performed. The incumbent will coordinate with the Inpatient/Outpatient supervisor in interviewing and selecting applicants for employment, counseling employees in all phases of the technical support operation, including computer systems usage; and conducts the administration of all relevant employee relation and personnel matters under the guidance of the Inpatient supervisor.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Mon-Fri 7:30-4:00

GRADE REQUIREMENTS
GS-8 Experience: One year experience at the next lower level (GS-07) and must fully meet the KSAs at the next lower level. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following technical KSAs and the potential to acquire the assignment specific KSAs designated by an asterisk (*):
*1. Knowledge of human resource management policies and procedures, and the ability to supervise various levels of pharmacy
technicians and other technical personnel (for supervisory assignments).

Physical Requirements: Principle duties require repetitive use of hands and fingers (for example, preparing IV admixtures, use of a computer keyboard, etc.). This may require lifting and carrying light loads, including boxes, equipment, unit-dose cassettes, and IV solutions; stooping or kneeling (for example, to pick up items from the floor, remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers, etc.); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time. Normal ranges of hearing and vision are required to perform work and communicate effectively; must have the visual ability to distinguish between basic colors and shades of color. An ability to perform tasks requiring rapid mental and muscular coordination functions simultaneously is necessary. Must be physically capable of operating various types of equipment used for the job.
