Accredited by the Joint Commission, the Whiteriver PHS Indian Hospital is a 40-bed hospital and provides ambulatory and inpatient services for 17,000 White Mountain Apache Tribal Members and 4,000 Native Americans living in the surrounding areas.  The Cibecue Health Center, located 50 miles southwest of Whiteriver, provides outpatient, urgent care, dental, and community health service to 1,800 residents of Cibecue and Carrizo. 

Two (2) Permanent Full-Time Pharmacy Technician position to be filled in the Pharmacy Department at the Whiteriver Service Unit (WRSU) in Whiteriver, Arizona.  The Incumbent will perform various duties involving in-patient and out-patient responsibilities that requires the application of an extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical and pharmacy practice.  The Incumbent must be familiar with prescription processing, bulk compounding, maintaining inventory and supplies, and with ongoing quality improvement activities.  The Incumbent will work under the supervision of the Department Pharmacist.

GS-4

  • Limited skill in all on-going inventories of drug products and pharmaceutical supplies including ordering on a daily basis.
  • Provides medication replenishment in the automated pharmacy dispensing system located in the facility.
  • Work is performed on a regularly assigned or rotational basis to provide continuity of pharmacy service during evening, nights, holidays, and weekends.

  • Assists pharmacy staff in filling out-patient prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Accurately fills new, refills, and discharge prescriptions with correct drug name, strength, dosage form, and quantity according to patient's medication profile.
  • Responsible for all on-going inventories of drug products and pharmaceutical supplies including ordering on a daily basis.

GS-6

  • Conducts a basic review of patient's chart to confirm appropriate patient and number of medications including quantities to be dispensed and whether doses are within the acceptable range based on patient's age and weight; enters accurate data into the computer for proper prescription labels; and assembles labels and appropriate dosage forms for review prior to dispensing out-patient medication to the patient.
  • Accurately fills new, refills, and discharge prescriptions with correct drug name, strength, dosage form, and quantity according to the patient's medication profile.
  • Responsible for all on-going inventories of drug products and pharmaceutical supplies including ordering on a daily basis.
