This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

The purpose of this position is to serve as shop chief over a small organizational segment in a maintenance function with
responsibility for the overall shop operation. One or more employees who perform work in the Sheet Metal Mechanic, WG-3806-10, occupation are assigned to the shop.

DUTY LOCATION :   192nd MXS PAS, JB Langley – Eustis, Hampton, VA

GROUP I
- All qualified Male/Female Enlisted (Not to Exceed  E6/TSgt) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Air National Guard Military Technician Program. 

GROUP II – All qualified Virginia Air National Guard Male/Female Enlisted (Not to Exceed E6/TSgt), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia Air National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.

GROUP III – Individuals eligible for membership in the Virginia Air National Guard.

MILITARY ASSIGNMENT :   This position is supervised by a E7/MSgt.  Grade inversion will not be authorized. Compatible AFSC:  2A671

Duties

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the technician and lower graded mechanic(s). Performs the full range of shop work. Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment peration, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.
