As a Student Trainee (Program Specialist), you will play a key role in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify business process problems with a focus on supporting program and division budget activities.
Specifically, you will:
-Perform a variety of duties associated with proposal processing including redacting panel reviews/summaries (non-scientific), identifying conflicts of interest (COI), and responding to correspondence and telephone calls regarding proposal policies and systems.
-Gather data for analysis and information sharing; and conduct moderately complex qualitative analyses.
-Troubleshoot systems and provide system support for basic proposal processing systems and applications.
-Provide budget support to include creating and monitoring the budget spreadsheets; conducting financial analysis
-Manage funds in accordance with rules and regulations and guidance to properly apply legal use of appropriate funds and prepare year-end financial status reports.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. NSF is relocating to Alexandria, Virginia. In late summer of 2017, NSF will begin the transition from its current location in Arlington, VA to 2415 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22314. The new location is adjacent to a Metro station (Eisenhower Avenue on the Yellow Line) and there is ample parking in the area. There are several amenities nearby, such as restaurants, hotels, and shops.
Relocation expenses will not be paid.
