As a Food Service Worker with additional experience and training, the employee performs duties that require proficiency in special procedures and a broad knowledge of service operations, such as therapeutic diets, office procedures, food preparation, tray line meal assembly, inventory management, and food/beverage service. When working in the Diet Office, employee is responsible for making sure tray tickets reflect the physician prescribed diet order, and are legible and understandable to tray line personnel, and for using telephone or e-mail contacts with dietitians to ensure patients are receiving correct food items.
The employee is under the general supervision of the Food Service Supervisor and/or the Work Leader. Employee functions, for the most part, on own initiative with full responsibility for accuracy/adequacy of work completed. The Food Service Supervisor and/or Work Leader makes occasional spot checks to be certain that procedures are followed and that work is completed according to schedule. The employee may assist lower grade employees and provide training on technical work matters.
In the performance of official duties, the employee may have regular access to printed and electronic files containing sensitive data which must be protected under the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and DM&S policy. The employee is responsible for 1) protecting that data from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration or unauthorized deletion, and 2) following applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files, release of access codes, etc., as set out in a computer access agreement which the employee signs.
Tour of Duty: Friday through Tuesday, off Wednesdays and Thursday; Tour of Duty 11:30 am to 8:00 pm
