The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive care to patients of all ages with a variety of medical, surgical, pediatric, geriatric, gynecological, and health maintenance needs in the Nursing Section/Department at the Quentin N. Burdick Memorial Health Care Facility, Belcourt, North Dakota. This position will report to the Supervisory Clinical Nurse (M&S) manager.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
EDUCATION: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
REGISTRATION: Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-05: Completion of a program of less than 30 months' duration; OR, One (1) year of professional nursing (or at least a GS-04 grade level practical nurse or nursing assistant experience under the supervision of a professional nurse); OR, Bachelor's degree or four (4) academic years above high school (or completion of a program of at least 30 months duration).
GS-07: Completion of a professional nursing program; AND, One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level; OR, Bachelor's degree with 'superior academic achievement', OR, One (1) full year of graduate education.
GS-09: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level; OR Master's or equivalent degree; OR two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education;
EXAMPLES OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-09: For GS-9 grade level, you MUST have one (1) year of experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level) that included duties such as: given assignments, which concentrate on precedence situations, and assistance will be provided to the incumbent in work planning and selection of priorities; During this time period, the incumbent will have closer supervision than that described in the targeted position; Because the position is below the full-performance level, the incumbent will be expected to gradually assume more complex assignments and to work with greater independence until the level of performance described in the target position is achieved. Works under the general supervision of the Acute Care Nurse Manager.
EVALUATION OF EDUCATION: At the GS-05 level, successfully completed undergraduate course work in nursing; the behavior, physical, or biological sciences related in to nursing; nutrition; public health; and maternal and child health in excess of that required for completion of an associate degree may be substituted for professional nursing experience at the rate of one (1) academic year for nine (9) months of experience. Graduate-level education must have been in nursing with a concentration in a field of nursing (e.g. teaching a clinical specialty, research, administration, etc.) or in a closely related non-nursing field directly applicable to the requirements of the position to be filled.
EVALUATION OF EXPERIENCE: Experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. At GS-9 grade level and above, many positions require experience in a specialty area of nursing.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
