About the Position:
The incumbent serves as a research assistant in the General Histories Branch, Histories Division, with responsibility for assisting in the preparation of major institutional history of the United States Army in Europe during the early years of the Cold War.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
A. Degree: history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history.
or
B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 hours in history, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must have specialized experience and/or directly related education:

A. To qualify based on your experience for the GS-09 grade/level, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: assisting in conducting historical research projects; assisting with collecting and examining historical material; or assisting with preparing written and photographic historical materials for publications.

B. Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
or
C. Combination of Education and Experience: I have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have graduate level education in excess of 1 year but less than the level of graduate-level education as described in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify) (Transcripts are required with your application)
