    You will serve as Project Manager and planner in the Planning Division within the Denver Service Center of the National Park Service.  You will be the primary point of contact with parks, regions, and program centers working with partners to determine the project scope, reporting requirements, schedules, budgets, staffing needs, and appropriate level of quality.  You will be responsible for initiating and guiding one or more planning projects from inception through completion.  The primary concerns of this position are managing highly complex, multi-year planning projects.  These projects include highly sensitive resource, visitor use and facility planning issues, multi-year phasing, and high visibility and controversy.  Projects are typically of national significance.  You will need to apply professional judgment and best practices to critical issues, and address problems requiring unprecedented approaches and solutions.


    This position includes applying best practices for planning, and project management in the preparation of a diversity of park plans.  This includes preparing and finalizing project agreements, conducting internal and public scoping, and researching and analyzing a wide range of data and information including analysis of land uses, and natural and cultural features and visitor uses.  The position also includes preparation of National Environmental Policy Act documents and completion of the National Historic Preservation Act Section 106 compliance process to ensure all compliance and other regulatory mandates are met.  The incumbent would represent the park unit and/or National Park Service at public hearings and meetings involving a variety of often controversial park management policies and regulations.  The incumbent also would be responsible for the successful completion and execution of all projects; coordinating with planning professionals to translate the client needs, ensuring compliance and quality; identifying disciplines needed for project teams and overseeing staff as needed to accomplish tasks to be performed.  They would also serve as the Contractor's Officer's Representative.
