The mission of the Federal Election Commission (FEC) is to ensure that the campaign finance process is fully disclosed and that all federal campaign finance laws and FEC regulations are effectively and fairly enforced. The FEC fulfills its mission through education and outreach, public disclosure of campaign finance transactions, promulgation of regulations, issuance of advisory opinions, enforcement of the law and responsibilities associated with litigation.
The six Commissioners, no more than three of whom may be affiliated with the same political party, are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. The Commissioners serve full-time and are responsible for administering and enforcing the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA), 2 U.S.C. 431 et. seq., the Presidential Election Campaign Fund Act, 26 U.S.C. 9001 et. seq., and the Presidential Primary Matching Payment Account Act, 26 U.S.C. 9031 et. seq. The Commission generally meets four times each month, twice in closed executive session to discuss matters that, by law, must remain confidential, and twice in meetings open to the public. At these meetings, the Commission formulates policy and votes on significant legal and administrative matters. The Commission elects a new Chairman and Vice Chairman from among its members each calendar year. The Chairman and Vice Chairman are not affiliated with the same political party. The FEC has approximately 350 employees and an annual budget of approximately $66 million.

As a Information Technology Specialist (Applications Software and Enterprise Architecture ), you will be responsible for the following:
Designs, documents, develops, modifies, tests, installs, implements, and supports new or existing applications software analyzing and refining systems requirements; translating systems requirements into applications prototypes.
Plans and designs systems architecture; writes, debugs, and maintains code. Determines and designs applications architecture; output media/formats; and user interfaces;
Works with customers to test applications assuring software and systems quality and functionality and integrating hardware and software components.
Writes and maintains program documentation, evaluating new applications software technologies; and/or ensuring the rigorous application of information security/ information assurance policies, principles, and practices to the delivery of application software services.
Serves as an Enterprise Architect for the FEC sufficient to develop and interpret strategies and policies governing the planning and delivery of services throughout the agency. Provides technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical issues;
Develop plans and schedules, estimate resource requirements, define milestones and deliverables, monitor activities, and evaluate and report on accomplishments. Works with FEC staff to communicate technical requirements across organizational lines.
Works on developing the policies and principles to guide decisions for the FEC enterprise architecture. Conducts governance management activities associated with ensuring compliance with the enterprise architecture; and ensures the rigorous application of information security/ information assurance policies.
Identifies opportunities to improve enterprise-level systems to support business processes and utilize emerging technologies. Evaluates the effectiveness of the enterprise architecture efforts by participating in test planning, validation, and reviews.
