OIG is organized into three line elements: the Offices of Investigations, Audits and Evaluations, and Healthcare Inspections; along with the Office of Contract Review and the Office of Management and Administration. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 30 cities throughout the country.
As an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC/Sysadmin), you will:
- Platform Operating Systems - Computing systems infrastructure, hardware, network OS (windows), virtualization, terminal services environment. Monitor physical environment, computing system infrastructure, manage all platform hardware and networking OS, determine hardware platform and virtualization requirements for all servers. Operating system configuration and management.
- Back Office Systems - Computing systems services, IT Core applications implementation and support, manage SQL servers, encryption, Anti-Virus / HIPS and other security software implementation and management, system security, messaging systems, terminal services application management, Active directory management (manage GPOs, OU structure, local, and security groups), Implementation and Maintenance of OIG-wide applications.
- Storage Management - Develop, implement and manage storage systems across the OIG, manage backup process (SANS, Servers, and laptops), systems and subsystems. Coordinate the common use of core software across multiple platforms and troubleshooting procedures for related applications. Prepare strategies for recovery in the event of systems failure. Develop recovery methodology for the systems. Develop systems modifications to aid in recovery, which includes determining the cause of failure, documenting methods for preventing future problems, fixing software, and restoring files.
- Infrastructure Services - Support Infrastructure components including wide area networking and converged technologies to include managing connectivity to OIG Offices, managing OIG wide area network, telecommunications (phone lines, data and voice circuits) Video conferencing technologies, wireless network, and universal network services such as infrastructure applications.
