    The incumbents will serve as a Soil Conservationists performing a variety of duties which assist the District Conservationist in developing and carrying out a coordinated natural resources conservation program that is tailored to customers' needs and meets USDA and NRCS requirements.

    There are a total of 47 vacancies. There is one vacancy available in each location with the exception of the following: there are two vacancies available in Minnewaukan, ND; John Day, OR; and Clark, SD. There is one vacancy available in either Wray, CO or Yuma, CO.

    • Assists is gathering and assembling preliminary data for all resource concerns for use in developing complete basic farm conservation plans.
    • Utilizes Toolkit/protracts programs in the documentation and management of conservation plans and technical assistance by the service center.
    • Carries out a follow-up schedule for applying conservation practices in accordance with plan and contract schedules.
    • Works with District Conservationist to conduct environmental education on natural resource issues, water quality, and general conservation.

    Occasional travel - Approximately 10-20%
