    Summary

    The Plant Gene Expression Center located in Albany, California is seeking a temporary, full time, Research Associate. The mission of this Center is to improve plant germplasm through increased knowledge of gene function during plant growth and development and in response to the environment.  

    The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is the United States Department of Agricultures chief scientific research agency and one of the worlds premiere scientific organizations. ARS Postdoctoral Research Associates are hired to supplement a lead scientist's research on agricultural problems of high national priority affecting American agriculture.

    Responsibilities

    The incumbent will conduct molecular biology experiments with an emphasis on metabolomics, transcriptomics, and metagenomics in plant microbial communities. Other responsibilities include growing plants and controlled conditions, and for growth of microbial isolates for co-culturing experiments. The incumbent will also design and conduct research and report on progress at local and national meetings and through publications in peer-reviewed journals.
