The National Park Service (NPS) is looking for temporary employees to work as a Lead on a Hand Crew in Moose, WY (Grand Teton NP). For more information on Crew Types, click here.

Positions at the GS-06 level have been identified as one of the key fire management positions under the Interagency Fire Program Management (IFPM) Standard. These positions have been categorized as a Senior Firefighter (SFF), and require selectee to meet the minimum qualification standards for IFPM prior to being placed into the position. Duties

A Lead Wildland Firefighter (GS-06, Lead Range/Forestry Technician) serves as a Lead on a wildland fire handcrew. Locates fire line, directs and participates in fire line construction, backfiring and burnout operations, tree falling and holding/patrol mop-up operations. Constructs handlines in various vegetative types. Uses a variety of specialized tools, equipment and techniques to actively suppress wildland fires. Leads at least three crewmembers on a handcrew. May participate in prescribed fire operations.
