The VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) and University Of Washington School Of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition are recruiting a full-time Head of the Section of Endocrinology based at our Seattle VA Medical Center. The Endocrinology Section at the VA is a full service program and integrated with VA-UW endocrinology training programs. The successful candidate will be an experienced and effective leader with a strong commitment to patient care, medical education, and research. An academic track record with evidence of publications and the ability to take advantage of the outstanding opportunities for collaboration in clinical, basic, translational and health services research at the VA Puget Sound and the University of Washington is desirable.
Applicants must have an MD degree (or foreign equivalent) and preference is board certified/eligible in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (or foreign equivalent). U.S. Citizenship is required. They must also qualify for appointment to the full-time, 100% faculty at the University of Washington at the Associate Professor (0112) or Full Professor (0113) level commensurate with qualifications. These are 12-month, indefinite appointments. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Position will remain open until filled.

The incumbent is responsible for the daily administrative and clinical operations of the Endocrine Section and reports directly to the Hospital and Specialty Medicine Service Line Manager. They may also work in one or all of the following units: Inpatient wards and Subspecialty Clinic areas. In addition, the incumbent may be required to perform General Medicine attending duties on the inpatient wards. The incumbent will also be engaged in direct patient contact or perform tasks defined by statue or recognized custom of medical practice within the bounds of state law as defined by the board of professional licensure. Will be responsible for ensuring quality outcomes, veteran satisfaction and cost effective care.
The incumbent will, as defined by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the subspecialty Board of Endocrinology, admit, evaluate, diagnosis, provide treatment or consultative services to patients presenting with cardiovascular disease.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Basic Requirements:
-Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
-Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
-Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
-Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
-Proficiency in spoken and written English.
