ARS Postdoctoral Research Associates are hired to supplement a lead scientist's research on agricultural problems of high national priority affecting American agriculture.

The initial appointment will be for 2 years with a possible extension up to 4 years.

Duties

The incumbent will conduct cooperative and independent research, specifically measure beef cattle genomic x environment interactions using intake, performance, nutrient-use efficiency.  In addition, rumen microbiota studies will be used to help correlate nutrient-use efficiency and rumen methane production from beef cattle grazing systems composed of native prairie, improved grasslands, winter wheat, or novel grasses and legumes.  Technologies must be developed or adapted by the incumbent and corroborated in collaboration with scientists conducting research on forage and animal efficiency.
