    As a Supervisory Medical Officer (Research) you will:

    • Oversee workload and research priorities within the organization
    • Provide independent leadership in research of national and international significance, participating in the overall planning, development, and implementation of policies and procedures related to the extramural program
    • Administer clinical and basic research projects, including clinical trials, supported by the assigned organization
    • Actively collaborate in the planning, development, implementation, and administration of research and training programs, projects, contracts, conferences, and workshops
    • Establish goals and objectives for the assigned research area and organize efforts to initiate pioneering programs and resolve critical issues involving accomplishment of the research
    • Evaluate the recommendations of peer review programs, scientific merit of proposed research, availability and adequacy of facilities, and justification for individual budget items
    • Formulate concepts for Program Announcements, Requests for Applications, and Requests for Proposals while ensuring the funded research is scientifically valid and complies with the Institute/Center
    • Maintain liaison with investigators, institutions, organizations, and other government agencies

    Travel Required
