    Summary

    The Pathways Recent Graduate Program is for recently graduated or graduating individuals who are looking for developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service. Recent Graduates will serve on this appointment for one year learning the fundamentals of the position for which they can be converted.  For more information on the Pathways Recent Graduate Program, please visit https://www.usajobs.gov/StudentsAndGrads.

    Candidates selected from this announcement may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a term or permanent position in the competitive service provided that all terms of the Recent Graduate Program are met and there is an available position. Conversion is not mandatory or guaranteed, and is at the discretion of the agency.

    Responsibilities

    As a Soil Conservationist (Recent Graduate), you will be performing the following duties under direct supervision; Assignments will be developmental in nature and will assist the employee gain the competencies necessary for a career:

    • Works with farmers and other landowners to develop conventional conservation plans addressing resource concerns; provides information concerning Farm Bill and State Conservation Programs.
    • With Supervision utilizes Toolkit/Protracts programs in the documentation and management of conservation plans and technical assistance by the service center.
    • Assists with contract reviews as assigned and notifies District Conservationist when contracts are technically non-compliant.
    • Writes news articles and stories, conducts tours, speaks to groups and collects pertinent information to be used to further agency programs.

    Occasional travel - As required to perform the duties of the position and complete the requirements of the Pathways Program.
