    OIG is organized into three line elements: the Offices of Investigations, Audits and Evaluations, and Healthcare Inspections; along with the Office of Contract Review and the Office of Management and Administration. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 30 cities throughout the country.

    The Supervisory Veterans Claims Examiner, located in the Office of Audits and Evaluations, Denver field office, plans and manages teams of non-supervisory Inspectors who conduct cyclical oversight reviews and prepare reports designed to evaluate Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) regional office operations.

    Responsibilities

    As a Supervisory Veterans Claims Examiner, you will:

    - Implement new inspection program requirements and assist in developing the annual inspection plan.

    - Provide oversight on and reports on inspections of VBA regional office operations and performance in order to identify the need for corrective action and to make recommendations for improvement.

    - Oversee the work involved with the oversight and quality assurance of developing, examining, adjusting, reconsidering or authorizing the settlement of claims; development of suggestions and other information useful to higher-level managers in determining which goals and objectives to emphasize.

    - Decides the methodologies to use in achieving work goals and objectives, and in determining other management strategies.

    Travel Required

    25% or less - Travel nationwide under tight deadlines. The incumbent should anticipate frequent walking and standing as a component of this travel.
