    Summary

    There are 2 vacancies available in the following locations: Soda Springs, ID and Estancia, NM. The incumbents will serve as a Soil Conservationist Technician providing assistance to the local Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) assigned to the field office (FO) within the assigned Natural Resource area. The incumbent is responsible for working with landowners to apply and maintain a number of conservation practices. The work requires review of cost-sharing request under the provisions of federal, state, and possibly local agricultural programs.

    Salary for the Estancia, NM Position:
    LOCALITY PAY AREA OF ALBUQUERQUE-SANTA FE-LAS VEGAS, NM
    $32,323-$42,020

    Salary for the Soda Springs, ID Position:
    REST OF THE UNITED STATES
    $32,318-$42,012

    Responsibilities

    • Gathers and compiles data under supervision to assist in the evaluation and development of natural resources conservation plans.
    • Compiles resource information, prepares maps, and interprets soil survey data for use in conservation planning.
    • Provides technical assistance to landowners with application and maintenance of natural resource conservation practices.
    • Performs preliminary engineering surveys and record field notes to prepare tentative conservation designs and present for review and approval.

    Occasional travel - Travel is required approximately 20% of the time.
