This vacancy is for an Economist position in the Regional Prices Branch in the Regional Economics Directorate, located at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis, in Suitland, MD.
The incumbent will work closely with team members in evaluating and improving the methodology and measurement of regional price comparisons and their application in the regional product and income accounts. Duties will include assessing the reliability and consistency of source data, the sensitivity of estimates to different methodologies, and the relationship among variables that enter into estimation models. The incumbent will also help design, modify and verify existing procedures for compiling the estimates. The incumbent will also have a role in dissemination of the estimates, including effectively communicating with academic and business users.
The individual selected for this position will:
*Major Duty 1 - Collect data from a wide variety of sources.
*Major Duty 2 - Produce and evaluate statistical data for quality and consistency.
*Major Duty 3 - Communicate economic and statistical information in writing and in person.
