Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on his/her expertise as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist. The Safety and Health Office (SHO) provides program oversight for the Reclamation SHO Program. You can make a difference in the West by monitoring and assessing implementation of key SHO program elements, identify and monitor critical SHO metrics, and to communicate program activities for Reclamation management and the Department of the Interior.
Develops and manages the Reclamation safety management evaluation (SME) process and focused program audits. The specialist will be involved in the conduct of evaluations and audits of regional SOH programs, either as an evaluation/audit team leader or team member.
Establishes, monitors, and reports on performance metrics, long term goals and annual goals focused on continuous program improvement. Analyses accident information obtained from the Department of the Interior Safety Management Information System (SMIS) to identify injury and illness trends.
Coordinates and manages the Reclamation facilities safety and occupational health inspection and abatement process. Works with the regions to ensure that inspection, deficiency, and abatement information is entered and accurately reflected in deficiencies and abatement tracking systems.
Prepares safety and occupational health program annual reports to meet internal control requirements. Additionally, prepares Reclamation input to the Department of the Interior Office of Safety and Occupational Health for annual submission to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Prepares written technical or management reports for the Reclamation SOH Manager and the Director, Security, Safety and Law Enforcement, for internal and external release.
