The City of McLaughlin has a population of 713 as of July 1, 2016, and is considered a central hub on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. Population served is rich in Lakota Sioux culture, and traditions including multiple "wacipi" or pow-wows, two casinos that offer multiple gaming opportunities, restaurants, and live concerts. The area offers some of the best upland bird hunting in the United States as well as other big game opportunities. Its location on the Missouri River provides the opportunity for summer recreating including boating, camping and fishing, including the annual Prairie Knights Fishing Tournament with a guaranteed $7000.00 first place prize. McLaughlin provides services for Standing Rock and Cheyenne River Reservations in northern SD.
The worksite is isolated in a small highly rural area. Housing is available in Mobridge, South Dakota, 30 miles from the worksite. Mobridge offers the small town appeal with a population of about 3,515 as of 2014, a low crime index, and shopping opportunities. Located 70 miles north is Bismarck, North Dakota, which offers the amenities of a small city to include shopping, air travel, a zoo, AWHL hockey and other local college sporting events.

This is a Program Manager position for the CWT Program under the supervision of the VA Black Hills Health Care System CWT Program Coordinator. The incumbent independently is responsible for the organization, administration, planning, fiscal integrity and evaluation of the CWT Program. This is a vocational psychosocial rehabilitation program requiring knowledge, insight, and skills for evaluating and placing individuals with disabilities in supported and competitive employment. Directing staff to identify and reduce barriers to employment and to assume advocacy roles for the disabled will be a major duty. Provides daily oversight to employees at McLaughlin and Eagle Butte, SD.
It is very important for the incumbent to have knowledge and experience with Tribal Organizations, and/or Tribal Cultures, and/or Rural and Frontier Communities, and/or Interagency Processes.
Work Schedule: Monday Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM
