The Legal Technician provides administrative support to thirteen attorneys in the Indian Health Service (IHS) Branch of the Public Health Division. The IHS Branch is a fast paced environment that handles interesting and often time sensitive legal issues for the Department of Health and Human Services.
The tour of duty for this position is 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

For the GS-7 grade level, applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-6) in the Federal service providing administrative support such as initiating and composing standardized legal documents routinely needed for specific legal actions.
For the GS-8 grade level, applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-7) in the Federal service assisting in accepting service of legal documents, reviewing them for correct form and timeliness, and annotating case files and status records to reflect receipt and due date for response or other required actions.
For the GS-9 grade level, applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-8) in the Federal service, performing various legal assistant support functions, such as assisting in conducting hearings or judicial proceedings, case management, litigation, debt collection, and other similar types of activities for which there are ample precedents, and established procedures.
