The VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) consists of three inpatient facilities located at Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Livermore, plus seven outpatient clinics in San Jose, Fremont, Capitola, Monterey, Stockton, Modesto, and Sonora. These facilities provide some of the world's finest medical care and cutting-edge technology.

VAPAHCS is a teaching hospital with an affiliation with the Stanford University School of Medicine which provides a rich academic environment including medical training for physicians in virtually all specialties and subspecialties. Our Health Care System operates over 800 beds, including three nursing homes and a 100-bedhomeless domiciliary - all to serve more than 67,000 enrolled Veterans.

Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.


The Nursing Assistant performs a range of patient care activities related to medical, psychiatric and specialty services within the VA Palo Alto Health Care System/Community Based Outpatient Care (CBOC), for PACT and Specialty

The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Assists nursing and medical personnel in the care or treatment of patient illnesses or medical conditions.

· Monitors and records vital signs, measuring and recording height and weight, monitoring and documenting patient condition and specimen collection.

· Carries out special treatments and assists with procedures including follow-up care and observation.  Gives meaningful instructions and explanations to patient regarding purposes of special diagnostic tests and procedures.

· Assist with basic patient televideo appointments.

· Performs a variety of routine tests including but not limited to; glucose-meter sticks, respirator equipment, EKG, Bladder Scanner and related equipment.
