    This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), Office of Renewable Energy Programs (OREP), Environment Branch for Renewable Energy (ERBE), in Sterling, VA.

    The incumbent serves as a Cultural Resource Specialist in the ERBE. The responsibility of the incumbent is to provide the professional expertise and guidance for cultural resources necessary to support planning and decision making related to offshore renewable energy activities.

    This is a permanent, full-time, career/career conditional appointment.

    This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.

    Salary Information
    GS-13: $92,145-$119,794 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.

    This vacancy is also announced as BOEM-MMEE-16-RD-140(DEU) for those applicants who wish to apply and be considered under Merit Promotion procedures.

    The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

    At the full performance level GS-13 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

    1. Conducts consultations under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act with state, local, tribal, and other Federal agencies on the physical and visual effects of offshore renewable energy leasing and operations on onshore cultural and historic properties.
    2. Researches and analyzes physical and visual impacts to aesthetic, cultural, and historic properties.
    3. Analyzes and reviews onshore cultural surveys and reports submitted by applicants and lessees.
    4. Develops survey guidelines and mitigation procedures for the identification and protection of onshore cultural resources associated with renewable energy leasing and operations activities.
    5. Identifies and addresses areas where information must be developed by either agency research or contract studies.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Travel 1-5 nights per month may be required.
