    The U.S. Census Bureau has Direct-Hire Authority to recruit and appoint qualified Information Technology Specialists (Information Security), GS-9 and above.     This vacancy is for an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) position in the Office of Information Security (OIS) located in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.

    This position is ELIGIBLE for telework; additional criteria will be required (e.g., supervisory approval).

    Relocation expenses will not be paid.

    This is a NONBARGAINING unit position.

    The individual selected for this position will:

    Major Duty 1 - Provide guidance on securing information systems, and ensure security controls are implemented as necessary.

    Major Duty 2 - Create and manage Plan of Action or Milestones (POA&Ms) that are created as the result of an assessment or an audit finding.

    Major Duty 3 - Ensure information systems are configured according to a secure baseline.

    Major Duty 4 - Serve as a liaison between the System Owner and the Office of Information Security. Overesees the development and maintenance of security documentation.

    Major Duty 5 - Maintain expertise in any laws, regulations, and policies in the discipline of IT systems security and analyzes impact with regard to Census Bureau's operational needs, cost, resources and consequences.
