We have many facilities located throughout the nation: 121 institutions, 6 regional offices, a headquarters, 2 staff training academies, and 26 residential reentry management offices.
This position is located in a Bureau of Prisons (BOP) federal medical center. The nursing process of assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating is the basis for delivery of care by the Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN). The RN is accountable for direct patient care and for knowledge and understanding of the care provided by professional and ancillary personnel. The RN assesses the educational needs of the patient and provides information that contributes to the maintenance or restoration of health status.
Nursing care is performed within the scope of an RN as defined by licensing agencies and the BOP (current licensure must be maintained). The nurse effectively interacts with patients and other health care team members, while maintaining the standards of professional nursing. May serve as lead Nurse in providing direction and guidance to RNs, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and others in coordinating the delivery of patient care.
Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
