    AREA OF CONSIDERATION:

    AREA I:  All Excepted Technicians of the 108th Fighter Wing (FW)

    AREA II:  All Excepted Technicians of the New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG)

    AREA III:  All members of the New Jersey National Guard (NJNG)

    If a

    New Jersey Army National Guard (NJARNG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJANG.

    If the individual selected is currently on a Title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

    This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the New Jersey Air National Guard.

                   MINIMUM RANK:   SrA/E-4                              MAXIMUM RANK:  SSgt/E-5

    APPLICANTS ABOVE THE MAXIMUM RANK:

    Applicants with an enlisted rank that exceeds the maximum advertised rank for the position may be considered.   Applicant must provide a statement with their resume/application which indicates their willingness to accept a reduction in military rank.   If selected, reduction in military rank is required to prevent grade inversion.

    NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP STATUS:   Employment in this position requires concurrent military assignment to a compatible military position in the New Jersey National Guard in one of the following military specialty codes:  MUST HAVE AFSC:  2A5X4

     

    LEVEL OF CLEARANCE/INVESTIGATION:  MUST HAVE A SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE.

    Responsibilities

    The following list of duties is not conclusive but provides a brief snapshot of the duties that may be required for this position:  A copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office.

    MAJOR DUTIES:    Performs inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft to include periodic, phase, hourly, preflight, post flight, calendar, thru-flight, and special inspections such as fuel contamination, emergency equipment, and oil sampling.  Troubleshoots and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft, utilizing various gauges, meters, measuring devices and other related test equipment.  May be required to perform user and organizational level maintenance on assigned support equipment, including inspection, repair, modification, and corrosion prevention.  Provides data for aircraft maintenance historical records, complete maintenance data collection, man-hour accounting, and other forms as required.  Instructs, directs, and assigns maintenance repair tasks to drill status guard members.
