Department of Defense
Education Activity (DoDEA) operates as a field activity of the Office of the
Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness). DoDEA's schools are
divided into 3 geographic areas: Europe, the Pacific, and the Americas.
Each area is currently managed by an area director. Within each of these
three areas, schools are organized into districts headed by superintendents.
DoDEA is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing
prekindergarten through 12th grade educational programs on behalf of the
Department of Defense (DoD). DoDEA is globally positioned, operating 172
accredited schools in 14 districts located in 11 foreign countries, 7 states,
Guam, and Puerto Rico. DoDEA employs approximately 15,000 employees who
serve more than 74,000 children of active duty military and DoD civilian
families. DoDEA is committed to ensuring that all school-aged children of
military families are provided a world-class education that prepares them for
postsecondary education and/or career success and to be leading contributors in
their communities as well as in our 21st century globalized society.

THIS VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE USED TO FILL SUBSTITUTE TEACHER POSITIONS THROUGHOUT DODEA PACIFIC
NOTE: Applicants seeking employment as a Substitute Teacher with the Department of Defense Education Activity Pacific must complete a questionnaire for background investigations. Questionnaires must be completed electronically using the Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing System (e-QIP). Applicants can only access the e-QIP system if they are selected as a Substitute Teacher and have been invited by an appropriate official at their sponsoring agency.
Substitute teachers present instruction in accordance with an established lesson plan and curriculum to students in a classroom environment. AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Tutors are advocates and role models for the students, responsible for reporting student progress to the teacher. They tutor students individually or in small groups, review the students notes, entertain questions and discussions, determine the concepts which need to be reviewed, work with students in any phase of the writing process, and correct students work.
