This position is located in the Astrophysics Office supporting the Science and Technology Office for Marshall Space Flight Center. Candidate will serves as a Research Scientist with wide latitude to perform research to advance technologies for high-energy astrophysics. Conduct research in experimental astrophysics areas such as X-ray polarimetry, imaging, spectroscopy and timing, and, as necessary, perform modeling and analysis.
Support the Astrophysics Office in science studies with, and payload developments for, missions on satellites, sounding rockets and high-altitude balloons.
Conduct literature searches to assess the current status in experimental astrophysics.
Prepare competitively selected proposals for new experimental techniques and flight programs in experimental astrophysics.
Publish peer-reviewed research articles in appropriate journals and publications.
Present results of studies in appropriate meetings for advancement of the field, nationally and internationally.
Monitor and assure technical proficiency of contractors and compliance with contract requirements as necessary.
