    Summary

    This position is located in the U. S. Department of the Interior (DOI), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Assistant Inspector General for Audits, Inspections, and Evaluations (AIE). The AIE manages, supervises, coordinates, and conducts audits, inspections, and evaluations relating to DOI programs and operations including, but not limited to, waste, abuse, and mismanagement in such programs and operations of the DOI employees, contractors, grantees, lessees, or any other persons or entities doing business with the DOI. The incumbent of this position serves as an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) conducting audits, inspections, and evaluations of Department and Bureau IT systems, operations, governance practices, and related programs and processes. He/she provides subject matter expertise in overseeing the performance of the Department's annual OIG Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) compliance audit.

    Additional selections may be made within 90 days after the closing date of the vacancy.

    NOTE: This position may be successfully filled under the 0511 Auditor series or 2210 Information Technology Specialist series.     DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY: This position is being filled through the office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Government-Wide Direct-Hire Authority for this occupation and is open to all U.S. Citizens.

    Responsibilities

    • Identify procedures, practices, and/or regulations that may be susceptible to IT security weaknesses
    • Perform vulnerability scans and penetration testing of information systems
    • Evaluate and recommend acquisition of IT security tools, procedures, and processes
    • Make recommendations to procedures, practices, and/or regulations that may be susceptible to IT control weaknesses
    • Develop and interpret policies to ensure FISMA compliance
    The duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may telework with supervisory approval.
