    Energy Efficiency & Energy Renewal (EERE)’s mission is to create and sustain American leadership in the global transition to a clean energy economy through high-impact research, development, and demonstration and by breaking down barriers to market entry. EERE helps the nation achieve greater energy efficiency and security, environmental health, and economic productivity, by exercising Federal leadership in developing policies, information, technologies, and collaborative partnerships with States, Industry, and energy consumers that accelerate and expand the use of energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable transportation technologies and practices.

    The Fuel Cell Technologies Office enables the widespread commercialization of a portfolio of hydrogen and fuel cells technologies through applied research, technology development and demonstration, and diverse efforts to overcome institutional and market challenges.

    A successful candidate in this position will:

    • Oversee the technical planning of complex research, development and demonstrations activities
    • Serve as a Departmental contact with outside individuals and organizations
    • Evaluate proposals, participate in selection process, and recommend candidate contractors
    • Monitor contractor performance and evaluate deliverables

    As a General Engineer/Physical Scientist, you will:

    • Analyze the impact of new and proposed legislation, Executive Orders, other regulations, and new codes and standards on hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
    • Assist in the evaluation of hydrogen and fuel cell safety, codes and standards
    • Support the codes and standards development process
    • Prepare communications products

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Travel required approximately 1 - 2 times per month.
