The Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate is seeking to hire a Branch Chief in the Reliability and Risk Assessment Branch (Code 371). As the Branch Chief you will be responsible for leading the overall management and technical direction for risk assessment items and products, establishing testing programs for new component technologies, and maintaining risk classification guidelines.

Duties

As an Aerospace Technologist (AST) specializing in reliability and risk assessment, you will serve as Branch Chief providing administrative and technical supervision for the supporting staff. Providing technical leadership and oversight in reliability engineering and analysis, risk assessment and risk management programs. You will collaborate with Division and Directorate managers to create and support processes and initiatives that monitor ongoing activities, evaluate the effectiveness of the delivery of services, and employ continuous process improvement. You will develop cost estimates and staffing plans for new projects and proposals. You will monitor customer satisfaction to track and adjust those staffing plans to meet cost, schedule and quality of service goals. You will provide weekly and monthly status reports for special initiatives, working groups and ongoing tasks to both the Division and to the Directorate management team.

Technical leadership of reliability engineering analyses for missions includes ensuring reliability engineering and risk assessment techniques are applied correctly including Probabilistic Risk Assessments, Fault Tree Assessments, Failure Mode and Effects Analyses, block diagrams, worst case assessments, parts stress derating analysis, and creating or evaluating critical items lists for flight missions, ground systems, infrastructure and standard processes. You will provides authoritative project decisions, program advice, planning and coordination to Projects and supporting staff.
