You will serve as a senior fisheries biologist on resource issues relative to fish management, habitat protection, habitat enhancement and endangered species, and will serve as a Habitat Restoration Coordinator (HRC) on issues related to implementation of the Anadromous Fish Restoration Program (AFRP) and Central Valley Project Improvement Act (CVPIA) efforts to double the production of anadromous fish in California's Central Valley rivers and streams and the National Fish Passage Program (NFPP) efforts to reconnect aquatic habitat by eliminating or bypassing fish passage barriers.

Some specific duties include:
- Developing strategies and partnerships to restore and improve anadromous fish habitat in California's Central Valley in partnership with Federal, State, County and Municipal agencies, irrigation and water districts, local watershed groups, environmental organizations, urban, agricultural and industrial organizations and other interest groups;
- Developing protection, restoration and enhancement strategies with counterparts in other resource protection agencies at the Federal, state, local and private sector levels;
- Developing budget and funding requirements for habitat restoration and enhancement initiatives; negotiating for program funds to support fish restoration and monitoring aspects;
Developing, coordinating, negotiating and managing contracts, grants, task orders, purchase orders, reimbursable agreements, and cooperative agreements necessary to implement activities in support of increased protection and enhancement of fish populations and their habitats.
- Negotiating positions and projects with other organizations to improve fish populations and their habitats.
If selected at the GS-11 grade level, you will perform the same kind of duties as described above, but under closer supervision and training will be provided for progression towards the full performance level.
Occasional travel - Variable, but averages 3 or 4 nights per month.
