    The USPS OIG is seeking students enrolled in a college or university program to fill 1 or more student cooperative positions within the Office of Audit, located in Bethesda, MD.  The Student Cooperative Program is available year-round (January – December) for continuous employment while in school.  

    Candidates will be evaluated on the skills that they possess that are directly related to the duties of the position and/or the experience, education and training that indicate the applicant's ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. Only those candidates who meet all qualification and eligibility requirements and who submit a complete application package by 11:59 PM EST on Friday, September 30, 2016 will be considered. 


    NOTE: There are multiple vacancies that may be filled from this vacancy announcement.  Multiple referral lists will be issued throughout the course of this vacancy announcement. The first list of candidates from which management may make a selection will be issued after the job has been open 15 days. Additional lists of candidates will be issued as needed until the announcement closes. The closing date of the announcement may be changed to close on an earlier date or extended, as necessary, until vacancies are filled. 

    The USPS OIG uses a Pay Banding system, which is equivalent to the Federal GS scale. Grade and salary determinations will be made based upon a candidate's education and professional experience.  

    This position is being advertised at the Administrative Band level. The salary range for this position is $13-$17/hour.  Locality Pay is authorized.  

    Sophomore                         $13.00 per hour plus locality pay
    Junior/Senior                       $15.00 per hour plus locality pay
    Graduate or Law Student      $17.00 per hour plus locality pay

    The student cooperative performs specialized duties with continuing responsibility for projects, questions, or issues that arise in the area of assignment/curriculum. Each assignment typically consists of a series of related actions or decisions prior to final completion.  

    • Searches, isolates, and determines the interrelationships among available information
    • Assesses a variety of situations that depend on the particulars of the assignment and/or the requesting staff member
    • Selects appropriate resources and applies those resources to the problem at hand
    • Develops recommendations for problem resolution 
    • Assists higher grade employees to plan strategies
