WHAT DOES A CI EDI STUDENT VOLUNTEER DO? A Student Volunteer has the opportunity to supplement his/her education by gaining experience in public service. The Student Volunteer gains work experience in the area of Equal Employment Opportunities (EEO) within the law enforcement component of the IRS. The IRS Student Volunteer Program is designed to give degree-seeking students a unique opportunity to witness the Internal Revenue Service's vital mission of "providing America's taxpayers top-quality service by helping them understand and meet their tax responsibilities and enforce the law with integrity and fairness to all."
WHAT IS THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION (CI) DIVISION: Criminal Investigation is the investigative and law enforcement arm of the IRS. The American system of voluntary tax compliance relies heavily on self-assessments of what tax is owed.
