    The incumbent is a physician with leadership experience involving clinical, educational and administrative responsibilities in medical care and education.  Experience and familiarity with graduate medical education program, accreditation standards, financing, policy and evaluation are required.  Duties are as follows:

    Providing Coordination and leadership for the development of existing and new partnerships between VHA and graduate medical education programs.

    Using knowledge of current medical education accreditation standards, curriculum design and trends, and roles of medical and other health professionals to inform policy decisions.

    Providing coordination and leadership in developing and implementing processes to gather and analyze information needed to make strategic and tactical decisions that support continuous improvement of VA medical education programs.

    Serving as chairman or member of VA advisory committees for which medical education id a component of the work of the committee.

    Participating on committees, boards, and task forces of VA and external professional organizations as required.

    Conducting site visits to VA medical centers to review educational activities and programs.

    Participating in the development and promotion of national benchmarks and standards for medical education.

    Identifies, communicates, and facilitates deployment of innovative initiatives in medical education, best practices, and lessons learned to VISN and medical center education leaders.

    Managing a variety of complex projects of a cross-cutting nature that are the responsibility of OAA as required by the Director of Medical and Dental Education.

    Performing other duties as assigned or for which he/she volunteers.

    Work schedules: Day Tour; Teleworking is available.

    DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION:   Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.  Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.  Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.

    Travel Required

    25% or less - 25-40% Travel. the perspoon in this role will be facilitating local GME partnerships and will need to provide on-site consultation at VA facilities across the country
