The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System is looking for a staff pathologist who is board certified/board eligible in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) with strong general surgical pathology and cytopathology skills and training. Selectee will primarily provide anatomic pathology services and duties will include: overall diagnostic interpretation of tissue specimens processed within laboratory including review of gross specimens; processing and interpretation of intra-operative frozen section specimens and interpretation and final sign-out of anatomic pathology specimens. Interest and/or experience in hematology, transfusion medicine activities and/or experience with technical oversight of a clinical pathology section is a plus. Opportunities for participation in Clinical pathology specimen evaluation, review and interpretation, as well as clinical laboratory consultation with facility healthcare providers will be a component of the physician's responsibility. Participation in multi-disciplinary conferences such as Tumor Board, and specialty conferences, as well as P&LMS departmental meetings and service improvement activities is required. Selectee will participate in Quality Assurance measures for various laboratory sections as required by accreditation standards.
Work Schedule: 1st Shift 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Subject to on-call. May work weekends or holidays as needed.
