The entire duration of the Recent Graduate Appointment constitutes a trial period.
Appointee must be a U.S. citizen in order to be eligible for conversion to a permanent position in the competitive service upon completion of the program.
Performs administrative duties associated with the completion of citations, including data entry associated with the documentation. Receives inspection packages which contain Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) reporting forms, photographs, field notes, and related documents. Reviews reporting forms to detect obvious errors in standards quoted, abatement dates, penalty figures, adequacy of wording, proper format and the presence of necessary attachments. Answers telephone, respond to routine inquires, refers other inquiries to appropriate staff. When appropriate and the information is not available on-line, provides background information from files to OSHA staff members. Serves as a contact for ensuring that the office computer system is operational daily. Adds new users to the system and obtains passwords; performs start of day/end of day operations/resolves system problems; serves as a point of contact for the Area Office staff for initially reviewing problems and notifying OSHA IT or regional office staff, if required. Develops, generates, and retrieves periodic electronic reports from a variety of software in connection with inspection activity for the Area Director, team leaders, and compliance staff. Maintain a variety of area office reports; customizes inspection reports to isolate problem cases; run annual Micro to Host report to establish appropriate archive listing, reformats list for use when files are shipped to Federal Records Center; maintains manual tracking systems whenever current reports cannot provide information. Provide support to the FOIA Disclosure Officer, to include responding to Freedom of Information Act requests and calculating related fees.
