    This vacancy is for an Auditor position in the Office of Audit and Evaluation (OAE), located at the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Office of Inspector General (OIG), in Atlanta, GA.

    OAE is responsible for conducting and coordinating audits of Commerce programs, operations and activities through its headquarters and regional offices. These audits may include performance audits of Commerce programs, financial audits of internal Commerce operations, and audits of external activities funded by Commerce through contracts or financial assistance, such as loans, grants, and cooperative agreements.

    Responsibilities

    FOR GS- 07, 09, 11, 12: The individuals selected for this position will:

    *Major Duty 1: Apply accounting and auditing standards necessary to conduct broad audit assignments requiring an integrated analysis of a large number and variety of different operational programs and accounting systems;

    *Major Duty 2: Assist with the development of audit plans that assess the compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness of Department of Commerce programs; assist with managing execution;

    *Major Duty 3: Collect information (from document reviews, interviews, observation, electronic data etc.). Organizes and analyzes information using applicable statistical methods and software. Use auditing software to document work in accordance with auditing standards;

    *Major Duty 4: Communicate both in-person and in writing, especially with audit management and auditees, including when views inconsistent with audit findings are presented;

    FOR GS-13: The individuals selected for this position will:

    *Major Duty 5: Coordinate activities of team members. Provide advice and guidance to junior auditors. May exercise duties and responsibilities of the audit manager in the absence of that official.
