This is a Pathways Multi Series position which may be filled under any of the following titles and occupational series, depending on the qualifications of the applicant:

Student Trainee (Natural Resources), DB-0499

Student Trainee (Engineering & Architecture), DB-0899

Student Trainee (Physical Science), DB-1399

Student Trainee (Math/Computer Science), DB-1599

The open continuous announcement allows acceptance of applicants throughout the year with qualified applicants being referred for consideration as vacancies occur. The first Cut-Off date for receipt/referrals of applicants to be considered for available vacant positions will be October 15, 2015. Subsequent cut-off dates will be every two (2) months thereafter.  Eligible and qualified applicants will be referred according to the following cut-off dates:

About the Position: This position will be filled for the following duty stations:  Vicksburg, MS; Fairbanks, AK; Duck, NC;  Baton Rouge, LA; Hanover, NH; Alexandria, VA, Champaign, IL

Position(s) will be filled under the Department of the Army Pathways Intern Program.

The Department of the Army Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students currently enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work and get paid while exploring federal careers through a job with the Department of Army.

Who May Apply:

U.S Citizens who are current students enrolled or accepted in either a high school or GED program or enrolled at least half time in an accredited institution, pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate from a technical school, junior college, or college/university.  

Duties

As a Student Trainee (Engineering and Architecture), Student Trainee (Natural Resources), Student Trainee (Physical Science) or Student Trainee (Math/Computer Science) you will serve in a developmental role in a professional discipline under close supervision with a team leader and/or supervisor. Some of the duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with research projects including the oversight of field data collection
  • Preparing drawings, graphs, or charts using project data
  • Performing routine scientific and engineering computations using academic knowledge
  • Operating or adjusting various types of laboratory equipment
  • Entering data into data bases
  • Tracking information to provide recommendations for project execution
