This announcement will be used to fill positions in support of the Ebola hiring initiative. This announcement will be open for 90 days with option to extend up to eleven (11) months in 90 day increments.
This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Deployment statement: Incumbent may be requested to deploy to West Africa, which will require securing a USG passport, passing medical clearances, and taking required health & safety trainings.

Positions may be filled as temporary or term with a full-time work schedule.

As a Microbiologist you will:
- Evaluate data collection, quality control and data utilization methods used to study emerging public health problems and issues.
- Provide scientific advice and consultation.
- Evaluate and perform a variety of laboratory tests and processes.
- Design, plan and initiate scientific studies, surveillance activities, surveys and investigations in the field of emerging public health problems and issues.
- Comply with all ethical guidelines for scientific and human subjects research.
- Occasional Travel
