JOB DESCRIPTION: Information Systems Security Specialists ensure that information systems security (ISS) policies are implemented and maintained throughout the life cycle of NGA systems and networks. They perform investigative triage and forensics on NGA systems and networks, conduct investigations of unauthorized devices, equipment, and security incidents (e.g., data spills, AIS misuse, malware), and provide investigative coordination and support to Federal law enforcement entities. They also promulgate ISS policies; monitor systems and networks; investigate mishandling of classified information; and audit personnel and systems for fraud, waste, and abuse.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Office of Security (SIS) seeks to fill a critical position in support of NGA offices located in Springfield, Virginia. SIS has an opening for an Information Systems Security Specialist with the proven ability to operate independently in providing overall security support to specific offices and/or programs. The Information Systems Security Specialist conducts security operations in a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional environments. The Information Systems Security Specialist interacts independently with other government agencies and contractor security representatives to provide organizational representation, and coordinates security requirements on NGA's behalf. The Information Systems Security Specialist routinely organizes, leads, and actively participates on various planning and project teams; maintains project status reports, and develops and presents oral and written presentations to management and others. The Information Systems Security Specialist independently plans, assigns and accomplishes work assignments, and exercises judgment in resolving problems. Supervision will generally be administrative in nature, and he or she is expected to carry out assignments independently.
