The CIP opportunities are available at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) locations in Glynco, GA; Charleston, SC; Artesia, NM; Cheltenham, MD; Washington, D.C.; and Orlando, FL.
The internship for the 2015 Winter/Spring CIP will begin on January 5, 2015 and end on March 27, 2015.
All internships under the FLETC CIP are unpaid. College credits may be granted for the successful completion of an internship, as determined by the intern's academic program requirements.
The FLETC College Intern Program (CIP) offers a unique experience to college seniors and graduate students, by providing an opportunity for interns to participate in the Federal Law Enforcement training environment. Internships are provided for students with a desire to work in the field of law enforcement and/or the public sector. Sessions of the CIP are conducted yearly lasting up to twelve (12) weeks in length. Students may be selected to participate in either a law enforcement or non-law enforcement intern assignment.
Law enforcement internship:
The FLETC CIP will expose interns who are interested in a career in law enforcement to world-class training exercises, classes and hands-on training by placing the student with a mentor from one of the FLETC training divisions. The program is designed so the intern spends 50 percent of their time attending various components of the Federal law enforcement basic and advanced training programs, and the remaining 50 percent working on meaningful training related research and writing projects under the guidance of their mentor.
Non-law enforcement internship:
The FLETC CIP will provide interns who have a desire to work in the Federal public sector with an opportunity to gain on-the-job experience in a professional work environment that focuses on FLETC business career fields. Under the guidance of a mentor, interns interested in business, technology, public affairs, and social science related internships will be assigned to work with FLETC staff on projects and assignments that cover a broad range of the FLETC business operations. Projects and assignments will be related to the FLETC business offices identified in the on-line application process.
