This position is located at Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Pacific (SSC PAC), Pearl City, Hawaii.  As an IT Specialist (NETWORK), you will be responsible for apply a broad knowledge of the principles of Information Technology (IT) systems.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 

·         Must have specialized knowledge in defining, analyzing, configuring, diagnosing/resolving, installing, administering, and maintaining network infrastructures, computer hardware, computer systems administration, and communications & wireless technologies.

·         Involved with planning, analysis, design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, integration, maintenance and/or management of network systems used for the transmission of information in voice data, and/or video formats.

·         Maintain network infrastructure by configuring and optimizing network servers, hubs, routers, and switches.

·         Coordinate with network engineers, operational staff personnel, and sponsors in ensuring network and communication systems are operational.

·         Plan, coordinate, schedule, and manage project/tasks and recommend ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency within the command and control (C2) systems.

·         Interpret and explain information technologies, system/network procedures, policies, guidelines, and training plans and serve as a IT Network advisor to the sponsor’s leadership, supervisor, and employees.

You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates: Attention to Detail: Take a thorough, conscientious approach to work performed; Customer Service: Identify a client or customer need and provides a quality product or service. Oral Communication: Express information via oral presentation; AND Problem Solving: Identify problem, ascertain root cause and impact, and provide recommendations for resolution. Specialized experience for this position involves performing computer hardware/software integration and providing network support OR have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
