JOB SUMMARY:

This position is located in CATERING OPERATIONS . Candidates selected for this position will serve as a LABORER LEADER in CLUBS AND CATERING DIVISION for MCCS.

DUTIES:

Leads laborers in performing their assigned duties.  Assists in the training of assigned personnel, assigns tasks and work schedules and reports on employee performance and results of assignments.  Ensures that laborers are following standard operating procedures by performing periodic checks.  Loads and unloads trucks, carts, or pallets and assists in moving equipment and materials essential to catering operations.  Follows established receiving, storing, and issuing methods and procedures.   Receives and signs for merchandise.  Checks for damaged or defective merchandise.  Leads the set up of Catering functions to include, but not limited to; arrangement of tables, chairs, buffet lines, chaffers, dance floors and other equipment as per the individual contract.  Leads the set up of offsite catering functions, moving all catering furnishings as needed, loading and unloading, and setting up.  May assist in moving warming and other food service catering equipment as needed.  May operate outdoor equipment to include, but not limited to; power blower and lawn mower.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner.  Takes action to solve problems quickly.  Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.  Adheres to safety regulations and standards.  Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.  Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Responsible for performing routine and repetitive duties independently.  Receives, locates, and stores, materials, commodities and equipment in accordance with established procedures and operating requirements.  Assigns duties to personnel and ensures they are completed correctly and in the allotted time given.  Checks with supervisor when situations arise that have any questionable aspects to the tasks.

Work performed inside may be exposed to drafts, noise, dust, damp/hot conditions, or poorly lighted.  May require standing on concrete floors for long periods.  Special care is required to avoid serious injuries.  Outdoor work is performed in all kinds of weather.  May be required to wear protective clothing.

Work involves light to heavy physical effort, continual walking, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching.  Works in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions.  Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Ability to work independently.  Skill to follow oral and written instructions.  Ability to clearly communicate general and specific instructions, both orally and in writing.  Skilled in all phases of setting up for catered functions to include, but not limited to; dance floors, chairs, tables, and foodservice lines.  Ability to lead employees in the accomplishment of work.  Ability to operate, control, and clean a lawn mower, power blower.  Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
