To qualify at the GS-05
level of this position, you must have at least one of the following:
A. One full year of specialized
experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 level performing
procedural and administrative work of an office such as: preparing and editing
correspondence; maintaining files/records; locating, processing, distributing,
and updating information in response to telephone inquiries, requests, or
correspondence. Note: Your resume must fully support this experience if
qualifying based on this option.
- OR -
B. Completed 4 full years (120
semester hours or equivalent) of education beyond the high school level in any
field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal
prerequisite. Note: You must provide copies of your transcripts if
qualifying based on this option.
- OR -
C. I have a combination of the
specialized experience and education described above. Only education beyond 60
semester hours or equivalent may be combined with specialized experience. Note:
You must provide copies of your transcripts if qualifying based on this option.
To qualify at the GS-06
level of this position, you must have one full year of specialized
experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 level performing
procedural and administrative work of an office that included ordering supplies
or equipment. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: processing
orders for commodities; preparing and editing e-mails and letters to customers;
maintaining confidential customer files and records; locating, processing,
distributing, and updating information in response to telephone inquiries,
requests, or correspondence relating to order processing transactions. Note:
Your resume must fully support this experience in order to be found qualified
for this grade level.
To qualify at the GS-07 level of this position, you must have one full year of specialized
experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 level performing
procedural and administrative work of an office that included ordering medical
assistive devices such as hearing aids and accessories, prosthetics, aids for
the visually impaired, etc. Examples of qualifying specialized experience
include: processing transaction orders for medical assistive devices or
accessories; preparing and editing e-mails and letters to medical staff or
patients; maintaining confidential customer/patient files and records;
locating, processing, distributing, and updating information in response to
telephone inquiries, requests, or correspondence relating to medical assistive
devices or accessories order processing transactions. Note: Your resume
must fully support this experience in order to be found qualified for this
In addition to meeting the minimum qualification
requirements described above, applicants for this position must also meet the
following Selective Placement Factor for this position: ability to type at
least 40 words per minute, use an electric calculator, and proficiency in 10-key
data entry via keyboard.

Part-Time or Unpaid Experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.

- Background Investigation: You may need to successfully complete a background investigation before appointed into the position.
- Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
- Time in Grade (TIG): Current employees, Transfer and/or Reinstatement Eligibles must have a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade GS-grade level to be eligible under Merit Promotion. An SF-50 must be provided which shows your current pay plan/series/grade to verify time-in-grade requirements are met. Failure to provide an appropriate SF-50 will result in an ineligible rating.
- Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.
- Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
