- Serves as a RMD expert on statutory and regulatory requirements,
obligations, decision, policies, practices, and precedents regarding
the area(s) of responsibility of the unit to which assigned.
- Performs extensive analysis and evaluation for a full range of
responsibilities, addressing highly complex requests, inquiries, and matters.
- Serves as an expert and authoritative resource and point of contact on matters involving Freedom of Information and Privacy Acts (FOIPA), national security classification, various records dissemination concerns, and the FBI.
- Serves as an expert on Executive Orders and National Archive regulations pertaining to historical declassification.
- Serves as key liaison among the FBI and outside contacts regarding FBI information and records dissemination.
- Drafts reports, correspondence, and prepares final response packages.

Qualifications for the GS 13: Applicant must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 12 level. Specialized experience is:

- Conducting research of the preparation of legal opinions on matters on interest to the agency

- Substantive legal analysis of requests for information under the provisions of various acts OR

- Other similar legal support functions that require discretion/independent judgment in the application of specialized knowledge of laws/precedent decisions/regulations/agency policies/practices, and judicial or administrative proceedings.

Policy has been implemented wherein support employees entering a position through a competitive OR non-competitive action may be precluded from moving to another position within the Bureau by means of reassignment or change to a lower grade for a minimum of 12 months. This policy does not apply to probationary employees. Probationary employees are generally precluded from being considered for all job opportunities until their 12-month probationary period has concluded.

A Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) is a 90-day written developmental plan for an employee whose performance on one or more critical elements is rated "Unacceptable".

A Letter of Requirement (LOR) is issued when a supervisor identifies leave abuse and/or when frequent absences negatively impact operations of an office.

Relocation expenses will be borne by the selectee, except FBI employees returning from Legat assignment. Generally, following a COST TRANSFER you will be eligible for transfer after completing three years in the assignment. Additionally, NO COST TRANSFER require a one-year assignment commitment to be eligible for further FBI transfers.
