About the Agency

This position is located in the Submarine Modernization and Maintenance Branch of the Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.


As an Information Technology Specialist you serve as the senior Network On-Site Specialist responsible for applying C5I principles throughout the submarine force.


Salary will be increased by the applicable cost-of-living allowance (COLA), which is subject to change without notice.

As an Information Technology Specialist (Policy and Planning), GS-2210-13, your duties include, but are not limited to:


·        Oversee Submarine Force practices and identifying technical solutions to improve submarine Force operations through the use of information technology.

·        Gather and provide fleet information technology information for the type commander and for external organizations to improve information technology initiatives.

·        Provide in-service engineering support on a broad range of technical and support activities related to program management, security, policy, and systems engineering of Submarine Operating Authority.

·        Gather and provide data for policy development, support for fielded Navy systems, new system acquisition, and legacy system sustainment.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing policy and planning of Information Technology (IT) systems and programs for submarines and its supporting and inter-related network systems at supporting shore commands.   My experience includes: providing policy guidance to IT management staff or customers on installed IT systems and service; evaluating the effectiveness of IT programs and systems to determine operational conditions or functional requirements; analyzing performance metrics to measure and evaluate IT system performance; and resolving critical problems related to program requirements/IT compliance, including systems security. My experience in the information technology field has equipped me with skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.

Work onboard ships and submarines that are dockside or at-sea is required.

May be exposed to hazardous noise, electrical voltages, ionizing radiation, and at sea transfers via small craft or helicopters. 

Travel up to a week in duration is required.
