JOB SUMMARY:

MINNESOTA AIR NATIONAL GUARD  This position is located in the Small Air Terminal of the Deployment and Distribution Flight, Logistics Readiness Squadron, Mission Support Group, 133rd Airlift Wing. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a full variety of Air Transportation functions necessary to manage the day-to-day Air Transportation and small air terminal operations including but not limited to, airdrop and airdrop inspections, rigging responsibilities, wing deployment training,passenger and cargo manifesting, Joint Inspection, load planning, determining cargo/passenger eligibility, establishing and maintaining air terminal security, directly responsible for safe and efficient loading/offloading of all DOD-owned and controlled aircraft and ensuring In-transit Visibility (ITV).

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED

This is an Excepted Service position that requires active membership in a compatible AFSC in the Minnesota Air National Guard and wear of the military uniform. Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently enlisted in the Minnesota Air National Guard must be eligible for immediate enlistment or appointment. Inspects a variety of airdrop equipment such as parachutes, multi loop lines, extraction transfer force couplings, latch assembly couplings, cable assembly couplings, actuator assembly, release cargo parachute M-1, lanyard arming wire, connector parachute, timer delay assembly,link lower suspension, link assembly single suspension type IV, link assembly heavy duty, link 4 point, parachute release single knife, bracket suspension,and tie down cargo quick release. Performs airdrop inspections after priorities are set, work sequences are determined, and pertinent policy matters have been reviewed.   Independently performs assignments at the aircraft where the supervisor is not readily available. Rigs and prepares unilateral airdrop training loads to include type V or other airdrop platforms for airdrops.  Fabricates container delivery systems loads, skid boards, and other associated airdrop items, as required. Performs drop zone control operations as Drop Zone Controller/Safety Officer. Formulates, implements, and documents programs to train Wing augmentation in support of Wing air transportation deployment functions to ensure effective and efficient operations of installation deployment processes.   Ensures items offered for transport by air meet proper specifications to maximize safety and security of the aircraft, aircrew, cargo and passengers. Monitors and administrates data systems, within the technical and functional parameters and standards established by USTRANSCOM and in coordination with the Assistant Under Secretary of Defense for Transportation Policy, to integrate DOD transportation information worldwide and provide transportation and In-Transit Visibility(ITV) data for commanders at all levels. Analyzes operational plans, policies,and procedures for air terminal activities and facilities essential to air passenger and cargo movement processes. Inspects cargo received for airlift to verify eligibility and ensures proper documentation, packaging, and marking in accordance with applicable DOD directives. Establish and maintains the installation Space Available air travel program. Reviews passenger travel authorizations for validity and accuracy. Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:   Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of equipment and practices associated with the type of work to be done.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Use qualification standards for the occupational series referenced in the position description.

COMPATIBILE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT:   2T2X1 AFSC

MILITARY COMPATIBILITY:   Upon selection, individual must be assigned to a compatible military position and must also maintain satisfactory membership in the Minnesota National Guard.

EVALUATION FACTORS:  Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of appropriate education, experience, training, self-development activities, and special awards. National Guard military (Part-time) service is considered as full-time experience when evaluated against the qualification requirements for a technician position. The applicant is credited with actual number of months the member has been in the National Guard if the experience is related.

Area 2: Career/Career-Conditional technicians and Indefinite technicians Statewide (148th Fighter Wing and MN Army National Guard) who were initially hired based on a posted job vacancy.

Area 3: Minnesota National Guard technicians who have not previously competed and traditional Minnesota National Guard members.

Area 4: National Guard technicians from other states and civilian persons eligible for membership in the Minnesota Air National Guard.

REMARKS: No PCS available.   Position will not be filled until current incumbent vacates. Members with rank higher than identified in 'key requirements' are eligible to apply but, may be required to take a reduction should they be selected.   The military grade of the supervisor must equal or exceed the grade of personnel supervised.   Normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123 is required.   This position is subject to rules and regulations of the USAF and the ANG, to include fitness standards, as well as any AFSC specific requirements.   This is a dual status position.

Acceptance of a Technician position will result in the termination of your Selected Reserve bonus.
